To Moisturize is the Key....

Ever since I was a little, I always loved my time with my mom after bath time. She would always give me a or massage or stretch me - especially my legs and little feet to help with growth spurts and to relax. She would remind me how important it is to take care of my skin. I didn't understand at the time, but of one of my heros was telling me important information so at some point it would register. Well suffice to say that it sunk in.

Our skin is the the largest organ and works as a protective barrier again harsh chemicals, harsh environmental irritants and protecthng our internal organs. Depending on the environment and weather, moisturizing the skin works as an added barrier so our skin is not too dry, cracking , or even bleeding in some cases. When we are a warmer environment-we can rely more on the moisture and humectants from the air. We still have to have adequate hydration to ensure that our skin is still supported and we are not dealing losing too much sodium through sweating. Don't get me wrong; sweating is amazing for us because it helps the body to detoxify. We still have to ensure that we are not losing too many minerals from it.

For those of us who have to deal with colder environments, we have to improvise by using a moisturizer that has, humectant and sealing properties. This helps to attract water to the skin and then ensures that the moisture is secured.

Using moisturizers also ensure that the glands in place to help protect all layers of skin will be properly distributed. This will actually help to support the hormones and prevent skin flare ups like acne, cystic acne, and other blemishes. Moisturizing helps keep the skin hydrated and plump, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by moisture loss.

I am a big fan of keeping it simple and providing the skin with what it needs to thrive and keep us protected.

Here are some points to remember:

  • Cleanse- Use a gentle cleanser or exfoliant to remove deadk skin and clean impurities from pores.

  • Dirt and bacteria can cause a casting on the skin which will prevent impurities to go out and nutrients to go in.

  • Hydrate- Attract water to the skin and then ensures that the moisture is secured.

  • Moisturize- Works as a softener and provides protection from dryness, brittle or frail skin.

  • Seal- Helps to lock in moisture and continues to work as a protective barrier from harsh enviroments as well as keeping skin soft and supple.

The cleaner the products, the easier it is to reduce potential skin flare ups and nourish your skin.

Remember, the skin receiving hydration, moisture is how it remains functional for the body and prevents, irritants from entering and remaining in the body. Moisturizing is key and your skin will feel healthy, supple and happy for all of the years to come!
